My Discussions and Community Discussions Portlets

The My Discussions portlet (for My Pages) and the Community Discussions portlet (for community pages) display discussions or messages for selected projects (listed in the My Projects or Community Projects portlet). A discussion provides a virtual forum where project users can hold online conversations on subjects of interest. A discussion is made up of an initial message followed by replies to that message (including replies to replies).

The portlets can display a list of discussions or messages.

If the portlet is displaying discussions, it displays the following information about each discussion:

Column	Description
Discussion	The name of the discussion. The discussion icons indicate the discussion format: indicates an open discussion, in which you can create new messages or reply to existing messages. indicates a moderated discussion, in which a moderator can approve or reject messages Note: Unapproved messages display only in Discussion Details. Rejected messages do not display in the discussion at all. indicates a closed discussion, in which you can no longer create new messages or reply to existing messages.
Project	The name of the project to which the discussion belongs.
Messages	The number of messages posted in the discussion.
Date Modified	The date of the last posted message in the discussion.

If the portlet is displaying messages, it displays the following information about each message:

Column	Description
Message	The name of the message.
Project	The name of the project to which the message belongs.
Created By	The name of the user that posted the message.
Date Modified	The date of the message was posted or last edited.

You can perform the following actions in the portlets:

To add a project to your My Projects portlet or to browse available projects, click Choose Projects. This displays Project Explorer.
To change what you see in the portlets, make selections in the drop-down lists and click Update:
- By default, the portlets display discussions (Discussions). To display messages, select Messages.
- By default, the portlets display the discussions or messages for all selected projects (All Projects). To display only those discussions or messages for a particular project, select the name of the project.
- By default, the portlets display the ten most recently created or updated discussions or messages (10). To display a different number of discussions or messages, select the desired number.
To view the details of a discussion or message, click its name. This displays Discussion Details or the message itself, to which you can reply.
To view the project associated with a discussion or message, click the project name. This displays Project Discussions.
