File Check In
After you check out and update a file, check it back in to the project. When you check in a file, it becomes available for other users
to check out and modify, and it is indexed for search.
To check in a file:
- In the Language drop-down list, select the language of the file content. You can specify a language different from the language of your project. The language information allows the Search Server to correctly index the file for search.
- In the Comments text box, you can optionally type no more than
1,000 characters to describe the changes you made on the file. These comments display in the e-mail notification sent to users who are subscribed to the document.
- In the File text box, type the full path to the file or click Browse to select the file.
- If you want to keep the file checked out, check the box next to Keep checked out. By keeping the file checked out, you prevent other users from
changing it while you are still modifying it. While they cannot check
it out, they can view the latest version you checked in.
- When you are done choosing a file, click Upload.
The project stores copies of all versions of the document and a complete revision history.
