Note: You must install the Plumtree File Upload Web Service to access this functionality.
You can upload a file to the Knowledge Directory. When you upload a file, it is copied from the remote repository into the portal's document repository and a pointer is created to that copied file.
If you cannot submit a document or file to the Knowledge Directory, request the Edit Document Directory activity right from your portal administrator.
Note: If you are using Netscape 7.1, the ANSI character set of your client must match that of the name of the file that is being uploaded. The ANSI character set is determined by the default system locale configuration of your client.
To upload a remote document:
Specify a file by performing one of the following actions:
Type the UNC path to the document in the File Path text box. Type a local path (for example, C:\myFolder\myFile.txt) or network path. or a network path (for example, \\myComputer\myFolder\myFile.txt).
Click Browse to navigate to the location of the file you want to submit. You can browse to local drives or network drives.
Notes:
Depending on how the administrator configured the Web service, the Browse button might not appear, therefore you might not be able to browse to the file. If you do not see a Browse button, type the path in the File Path text box.
If the Browse button does display and you cannot browse to the folder where the file you want to submit is located, the data source you chose might not have the necessary privileges to access the file location. Click Cancel and resubmit the file. Make sure to choose a different data source.
Under Choose Document Type, perform one of the following actions:
Your portal administrator chose a default document type for this folder. To use the folder's default document type, leave Default Document Type selected.
To choose a different document type:
Select This Document Type.
Click Change.
In the dialog box, select the document type you want to use and click OK.
